A gateway corridor into the heart of Sugar Land
Williams Trace Boulevard in Sugar Land tells the story of the city's transformation from a quiet, master-planned suburb into one of the most established communities in the Houston region. Today, Williams Trace serves as a gateway into the heart of Sugar Land, where the roadway is not only about movement, but about connection — linking families to homes, schools, parks, and daily routines.
Williams Trace Boulevard is a key north-south urban artery, serving as a primary connection between residential neighborhoods, commercial centers, and major routes between US Highway 59 and Highway 6. As development has intensified over the years, the corridor has taken on increasing traffic demand while also facing recurring drainage challenges. This urban arterial reconstruction project was initiated to address mobility, safety and drainage needs through the addition of a new storm sewer pipeline and outfall system, along with targeted roadway and pedestrian improvements. Additional upgrades include outfall improvements to Steep Bank Creek, replacement of the traffic signal at Edgewater Drive and Lexington Boulevard, the addition of a third turning lane from Williams Trace Boulevard to Highway 6 and expanded sidewalks to improve accessibility and safety.

Our geotechnical work provides the foundation for these improvements, ensuring the enhancements are designed to perform under local soil conditions and continue serving the area as it grows. The Williams Trace Boulevard project demonstrates ATL's experience supporting municipal roadway improvements for combined mobility and drainage projects in Sugar Land and the broader Fort Bend County area, where our geotechnical expertise contributes to the long-term performance of essential transportation infrastructure.
