Space Center Houston is the official visitor center of NASA's Johnson Space Center, offering an immersive experience into the history, present, and future of space exploration through interactive exhibits, artifacts, and behind-the-scenes access to NASA facilities.
Beyond being a museum, Space Center Houston is a place of inspiration and education, connecting the public to the science, engineering, and innovation that define NASA's work. It plays a key role in preserving Houston's identity as “Space City” while engaging new generations in the possibilities of space exploration.
A long-standing partner across the campus
Associated Testing Laboratories has long been a partner for NASA Space Center's various projects throughout the years, providing both geotechnical engineering services as well as construction materials testing services. Serving as a striking gateway to Space Center Houston, the SpaceX Falcon 9 exhibit features the first orbital-class rocket booster reused for a NASA mission. Positioned horizontally and elevated 14 feet above ground, the booster allows visitors to walk beneath and around it, offering an up-close view of its engineering and the wear from two successful missions. ATL provided the geotechnical engineering for the complex foundation design required for such a large, load-bearing exhibit.
Other projects we have been involved with have included the entrance enhancement project, the new ticketing area, new construction for a 7,000 square foot building, and many other enhancements over the years to improve the visitor experience and expand exhibit capabilities at one of the region's most prominent educational and tourist destinations. These projects highlight our firm's capability to deliver quality assurance services on high-visibility institutional projects with complex stakeholder requirements — to get the biggest projects on earth off the ground.
