Beneath the surface of Houston's busiest corridors lies a network that quietly sustains everyday life, delivering clean water, supporting public health, and enabling economic growth. Many of these critical waterlines and pump stations, originally installed decades ago, had reached the end of their service life, making them vulnerable to failures, leaks, and service disruptions.
This multi-corridor waterline removal and replacement program was initiated to modernize aging infrastructure across some of Houston's most heavily traveled and densely populated areas including:
- Along Bisbee Street and Loop 610
- Highway US 90 and Hillcroft Avenue
- West Airport Blvd. and Hillcroft Avenue
- Loop 610 at Hunting Bayou
- Acres Home Pump Station
Geotechnical & environmental engineering across challenging corridors
ATL provided geotechnical and environmental engineering services, navigating Houston's challenging subsurface and environmental conditions including expansive clay soils, high groundwater near Brays, Sims, and Hunting Bayous, and potential environmental impacts in dense urban and industrial corridors.
The investigation program was designed to identify potential obstructions, evaluate trenchless construction feasibility for critical crossings, and provide design parameters for structural foundations at above-grade facilities.
The environmental engineering component of our services encompassed Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments along the proposed utility corridors to identify potential contamination concerns that could impact construction worker safety and materials handling requirements.
From historic neighborhoods like Acres Home to major transportation corridors and flood-prone bayou systems, this program represents a critical investment in the unseen infrastructure that keeps Houston running. By replacing aging waterlines and reinforcing environmental safeguards across a wide range of locations, the project laid the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient city.
