Katy Boardwalk Square Lofts

A lakefront live-work-play destination

The Katy Boardwalk Square Lofts reflects the evolution of Katy from a small railroad and farming town into one of the fastest-growing suburban destinations in the Houston region. Located near Kingsland Boulevard and Katy Fort Bend Road, the Katy Boardwalk District was conceived as a large mixed-use destination centered around a 90-acre man-made lake and nature preserve.

The vision included luxury loft residences, retail, restaurants, entertainment venues, office space, and Katy's first full-service conference center hotel, all designed to create a vibrant walkable lakefront environment unlike anything previously built in the area.

Boardwalk Lofts, opened in 2021, offers mid-rise living integrated with trails, open space, and future entertainment amenities helping transform Katy from a commuter suburb into a lifestyle destination. The transformative development spans approximately 169 acres and includes a diverse mix of uses designed to create a premier live-work-play destination including:

  • Over 650 Multifamily apartment units across multiple phases
  • Approximately 155,000 sq-ft of retail spaces and restaurants
  • Approximately 60,000 sq-ft of office spaces
  • Over 2.5 miles of trails and open spaces

Geotechnical & full-scope CMT on the lakefront

ATL provided geotechnical engineering and full scope construction materials testing for what has become one of Katy's most ambitious projects, supporting foundations, site infrastructure, and waterfront construction in Gulf Coast subsurface conditions for multi-story construction.

Large-scale mixed-use developments with water features, structured parking, and multi-story residential buildings require geotechnical and testing lab partners who can manage investigations across the full range of structural and site conditions.

The seamless integration of geotechnical design and construction-phase quality assurance on this project exemplifies the end-to-end service model that Associated Testing Laboratories brings to residential development clients throughout the Greater Houston area.
