A coordinated network anchored by three airports
The Houston Airport System (HAS) reflects the city's evolution into a global hub for commerce, energy, and international travel, anchored by three distinct facilities: George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and Ellington Airport (EFD). Together, these airports form a coordinated network that supports millions of passengers annually while also serving critical roles in cargo, general aviation, and aerospace operations.
Opening in 1969, IAH, located north of downtown Houston, stands as the region's primary international gateway. With multiple terminals and extensive global connections, IAH plays a vital role in linking Houston to major cities across the world, supporting both business and tourism.
To the south, Hobby Airport represents Houston's aviation roots and continued focus on domestic and regional travel. Established in 1927, Hobby was Houston's first commercial airport and served as the city's primary airfield before the development of IAH.
Located near the Johnson Space Center, Ellington Airport has a long history tied to military aviation and NASA operations. Originally established as a military airfield during World War I, it continues to support government, defense, and aerospace activities. Its proximity to NASA has positioned it as a center for innovation, including training, research, and the growing commercial spaceflight initiative.
A prequalified partner to the airport system
Associated Testing Laboratories is proud to be recognized as one of the prequalified geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratories for the Houston Airport System, meeting the rigorous standards required to support critical aviation infrastructure. As part of a select group of qualified firms, ATL has demonstrated the technical expertise, quality control, and regulatory compliance necessary to successfully deliver testing and inspection services across HAS facilities.
